The allSPY Standalone Coolant Level Monitor
Some would argue that the most important item to monitor is your coolant level in the expansion tank. Sudden loss of coolant, coupled with the fact that most vehicle temperature gauges are so heavily damped, basically ensures that the engine has overheated before the gauge even moves off centre! A new headgasket or head is the inevitable result.
Although the TD5SPY circumvents this by providing an early warning (and I can vouch for this), fitting the allSPY standalone Coolant Level Sensor provides an immediate alarm and peace of mind.
Don't worry, you don't need to drill holes into your coolant reservoir, as our system is completely non-intrusive and detects the coolant level directly through the side of your coolant reservoir! Just silicone it to the side our your reservoir and you're done.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Mount the led and buzzer in a suitable position within the passenger compartment in the vehicle. Connect the black wire of the buzzer and the blue wire of the LED to the battery (-) negative.
Connect the red wire of the LED to the yellow wire of the detector
Connect the red wire of the buzzer to the green wire of the detector.
Connect the blue wire of the detector to vehicle earth or battery (-) negative).
Connect the red wire of the detector to battery (+) positive. (This can be after the ignition switch if required.)
Place the detector against the expansion tank . The red LED on the detector should light and the buzzer should stop. Remove the detector and the buzzer should sound.
Silicon or glue the detector to the side of the expansion tank away from direct heat of the engine.
The sensitivity of the detector can be adjusted by removing the sensor cap (under the label). Increase/decrease the sensitivity using the small adjuster screw.
NOTE: The sensor cannot work through metal objects ie: radiators
